School Trips Abroad
By taking students out of their comfort zone, by challenging them and allowing them to explore, meet international people, work as a team and experience new cultures, we can enhance their education and understanding.
By enabling these young students – our next generation – to see and experience the world for themselves, we can help them become active global citizens. Our school group programs are designed to fully immerse and challenge young participants in contrasting environments.
Typically trips are one to two weeks in length and are varied, exciting and tailored to ensure that participants have a life-changing, memorable and positive volunteer experience. Groups can look forward to volunteering in unique locations around the world, whilst making a valuable contributing to community or conservation programs.
Please note that all our group volunteer programs can be tailor-made to meet the requirements of various international curricula, including the CAS elements of the IB Diploma or Middle Years program, ‘Week Without Walls’, or the Round Square Ideals.
For groups looking for more than a volunteer experience, we have developed a separate range of service learning group programs; service learning is the combination of classroom learning and theories, hands-on practical, in-field experience, and periods of reflective learning. Students will follow a curriculum, and the program includes pre and post-trip learning.

We had a great experience in Nepal this year. The work project was awesome! This is mainly due to the site preparation by GVI and their affiliates in the village of Bandipur. The scope of the project and the physical nature of the construction was perfectly suited to the needs of our students. The project experience was awesome! Great pre-planning, community involvement, and scale of the project. The focus on sustainability and purpose of development was great. Hopefully, we can use this as a model for future projects. All four (staff) are excellent ambassadors for GVI. Cheryl is very well organized and she, along with Bronwen and Seb, was always quick to accommodate our needs throughout our time in Nepal. Kudos to them!
We’ve already been thinking about next year and would like to work with GVI again. It’s the best project I’ve seen in my 5 years!CHRIS MACDONALD
