Having spent a month volunteering in Laos I just want to report that it was a wonderful experience for me. The project was very well organised which helped me greatly. The staff were very helpful and always on hand if there were any problems. The students were benefiting from the enormous amount of work Sue and Vally were doing to ensure the lessons for the big classes were planned perfectly for each day. Each member of staff seemed to take their responsibilities seriously and their main concern was that the project would run smoothly so that the students would benefit from their efforts and I feel they are succeeding in that. Initially I found lesson planning difficult but Sue went out of her way to help me, way beyond the call of duty. I will never forget how she helped me (in her quiet way) anytime I asked and believe me I asked many times. I realised for the staff the work is relentless they are available Monday to Sunday and don't seem to have any problem with that. Lily and Vally the Laos people who work for GVI are invaluable in the work they do also they are great people and their positive energy is contagious, the students love them and benefit greatly from their presence. I now hope to get the opportunity to return to Laos to volunteer again with GVI as soon as I can, but I have a lot of responsibility here so I will start planning again as soon as I can. Thank you everyone in Laos for the help and support which made my experience in Laos memorable.
