Women's Health Workshop
Today was a fantastic day as it was my first day on the projects here in Pokhara.
Myself and Jess were asked to put together a workshop on personal hygiene for the women at Male Patan.
We worked hard planning our lesson together and I am delighted to say that it paid off!
We had twelve women for the best part of two and a half hours and they were the friendliest and most eager learners I have ever met.
Although there was a range of language competence within the group, we had full participation in all of our activities. A little translating occurred from time to time but that was no harm, especially considering that it was our first day together.
Although we covered a lot of different topics, we concentrated on the importance of hand-washing. The women discussed all the various tasks we use our hands for and we all practiced how to correctly wash and dry our hands outside.
The women then took great pride in producing two beautiful posters which we publicly displayed in the local café hi-lighting the importance of hand hygiene.
I am really looking forward to working with some of these women in language class next week.
