Are you ready to say “adios” to the same old crowded beaches and “hola” to some of the most gorgeous stretches of sand in the world? Look no further than Mexico, where you’ll find a beach for every type of traveller. Whether you’re a party-seeker or a peace-and-quiet kind of person, there’s a slice of paradise waiting for you.

Tulum

This bohemian beach town is the epitome of laid-back luxury. Lounge on the soft white sand, take a dip in the crystal clear Caribbean waters, and explore the ancient Mayan ruins just steps away. But Tulum isn’t just a history lesson, it’s also a foodie’s paradise with an abundance of delicious seafood and organic, locally-sourced cuisine. And for the party-seekers, Tulum has a thriving nightlife scene with beachfront bars and clubs.

Cancun

The quintessential spring break destination. But don’t let that scare you off. Cancun has something for everyone. Yes, there are rowdy college kids, but there are also secluded stretches of sand for those looking for a more tranquil experience. And let’s not forget about the world-class resorts, spas, and dining options. But Cancun isn’t just about lounging on the beach, it’s also a hub for adventure. Take a boat tour to see the famous Cancun Underwater Museum or go snorkelling in the colourful coral reefs.

Playa del Carmen

This charming beach town is the perfect mix of relaxation and excitement. Soak up the sun on the white sandy beaches, then take a leisurely stroll down 5th Avenue, Playa del Carmen’s famous shopping and dining district. But the real excitement is just off the coast, where you’ll find the world’s second-largest coral reef, the Great Maya Barrier Reef. Put on your scuba gear and explore a vibrant underwater world teeming with colourful fish and sea turtles.

Sayulita

This surfer’s paradise is a hidden gem on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The consistent surf and laid-back vibe attract both novice and experienced surfers from all over the world. But Sayulita isn’t just for surfers, it’s also a great spot for stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. And when you’re done catching waves, indulge in the delicious street food and peruse the local artisan markets.

Akumal

This tranquil bay is a snorkeler’s dream come true. The crystal-clear waters are home to a diverse array of marine life, including sea turtles, rays, and tropical fish. But the real star of the show is the bay’s resident population of gentle giant sea turtles. Swim alongside these ancient creatures and you’ll understand why Akumal, which means “place of the turtles” in Mayan.

Puerto Morelos

This small fishing village turned beach destination is the perfect place to escape the crowds. The laid-back atmosphere and charming local shops and restaurants make it a great option for those looking for a more authentic experience. But the real draw is the beautiful coral reef just a short boat ride away, perfect for snorkelling and diving. And for those looking for a little extra adventure, get PADI certified with GVI.

Barra de Navidad

This picturesque fishing village on the Pacific coast is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The long golden sand beach and warm waters make it a great spot for swimming and sunbathing. But for those looking for a little more action, take a boat tour to see the nearby mangroves or go fishing for the day. And when you’re done, indulge in the delicious seafood caught fresh by the local fishermen.

Puerto Escondido

This laid-back surfer town is a hidden gem on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The long stretches of sandy beaches and consistent surf attract surfers from all over the world. But Puerto Escondido isn’t just for surfers, it’s also a great spot for swimming and sunbathing. And when you’re done, indulge in the delicious street food and peruse the local artisan markets.

La Paz
