As new volunteers, we had our first Ludoteca visit on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday it rained all day and so the school was closed. The rain was so heavy that the streets were more like rivers. As the Ludoteca was closed, the other volunteers and I were working on the recycling project for the Environment Day Expo. We’re making a disco ball out of tetra-packs (milk cartons), beermats (coasters) out of bottle caps, magnets out of beer tops, key chains and jewelry out of water bottles and beer cans.
Thursday was the very first day of work in the Ludoteca, the kids are amazing. They greet you with hugs and kisses, and even though my Spanish is not quite perfect, little conversations and jokes happen anyways. The volunteers just started to give simple English classes to the class, which they love. We taught them colours and animals this week. The weather is getting hotter day by day and I just may have my first visit to the beach very soon!
