This week whilst visiting Punta Allen, the volunteers dropped off a tricycle to Angel who runs the recycling center. The recycling center is very basic at the moment and there is a lot of work still to be done to improve the center and make it run more efficiently. To achieve this, more workers and materials are required and in order to raise the money some brave volunteers and staff members are partaking in the Mini-challenge Mayathlon on the 17th of March. The Triathlon consists of a 750m swim, through a lagoon (avoiding the crocodiles), a 20km cycle and a 5km run. However, there is an entrance fee of 850 pesos per individual and 1450 pesos for the team event. The entrance fee money is going to be used to build a house for the school teachers in the Pacchen community. Any contribution towards this event would be much appreciated by the Communities of Punta Allen, Pacchen, and the volunteers on base who are relying on your generosity in order to ensure enough money is raised.
