Creative Arts at Olives

A Creative Arts lesson at Olives Rehabilitation Centre.
Creative ideas for a creative arts class can be hard to come by when you have a class that is close to 60 kids, and such is the case for Standard 4 at Olives Rehabilitation Centre.
Last week I thought I’d try to assist the students in drawing a Family Tree which, being a new GVI volunteer, would also help me get to know them a little better.  After a brief explanation and example, supplies were handed out and the students set to work.

Although they were all special in their own way, I chose the two that caught my eye the most – one done by Reagan, one of the brightest boys in class, and the other by Omari, a student with one of the biggest personalities you will ever find.  Both expand well beyond the simple family tree diagram into well-drawn wildlife and colourful flowers.   Their creativeness with this project, as with most, makes us volunteers proud!
