Cape Town Trip a success for students

This summer I had the fantastic experience of travelling to Cape Town, South Africa with 10 students and a colleague (Charlotte) where we spent time volunteering in schools and an orphanage. Charlotte and myself decided to choose GVI after having a pretty average experience in 2013 with another company – who also raised their trip fees by £500 for 2014! We have commented to each other on many occasions how we are delighted we made the change to GVI. GVI have looked after us from the very beginning, but most importantly for me they ensured that our trip was an exact fit to what we were looking for. We got a massive amount of fantastic experience working with children of different ages, abilities and backgrounds. We also had the opportunity of sightseeing parts of Cape Town, which was a beautiful place and wet all of our students appetites for further travel!

I have to give special thanks to the GVI staff who I think are a real strength of the company. Our project manager, Cheryl, was an absolutely brilliant person to work with and get to know on our trip. She ensured that we always had a plan and morale was kept high, whilst at the same time keeping up the expectations and standards required by our students. Tapiwa and Moses managed the transport requirements of the group wonderfully well, and both demonstrated outstanding customer service as no request was ever too much for them! Finally I would like to thank Tim for planning the trip and making it exactly what we wanted – he did a great job.

Every one of our 10 students have told Charlotte and I how much they loved the trip – comments have ranged from “the best experience of my life” to “it has changed my outlook on the world forever”. I don’t think you can get any higher praise than that. The group were gutted to come home and have all spoke of how they would love to do another GVI trip in 2015 – even the students who have now moved on to university!

In summary I thoroughly recommend GVI to anyone; whether you are a school teacher looking to take a group away, or an individual looking for a career break or some volunteering experience, GVI will cater for you. Hopefully I will see you in Cape Town next year!
