GVI runs more than 120 gap year opportunities in more than 30 countries worldwide. We have one of the largest networks of field staff ensuring your gap year experience is as safe and up-to-date on what to do and where to go as feasibly possible. Our range of volunteer projects, cross country travel experiences and training courses are unique, affordable and come with our unparalleled wealth of knowledge and support spanning 20 years in the game.

GVI is not your typical gap year organisation our volunteers, expeditions members and students come from all different backgrounds and ages and from all over the world. You will not be joining just a group of gap year students but a broad mix of people interested in adventure, travel and volunteering. This is what makes a GVI experience so diverse and ultimately more rewarding.

Taking a gap year before going into higher education or employment is an opportunity too good to miss. It not only provides a break from study and some well earned "time out" but most individuals return feeling more confident, independent and mature, as well as more focused and committed to new challenges awaiting them on return. The experience and skills gained in a well structured gap year will add to and enhance your CV, your employability and your attraction to universities, meaning there is little or no disadvantage in taking up such an opportunity! Remember a gap year isn’t just an opportunity to have a break, it is part of your career plan for the rest of your life!
