Assoc. Prof. Ali Cemal Gucu - Project Staff

Ali Cemal Gucu is currently working as an academician in the Middle East Technical University, Institute of Marine Sciences. He has done research on fisheries, population dynamics of marine fishes and fisheries acoustics. He has also led many conservation projects.

Billur Celebi - Research Assistant

Completing her BS degree in Biology, Billur Celebi is now studying and researching on Posidonia oceanica sea grass meadows in the Middle East Technical University, Institute of Marine Sciences. She is currently leading a project on the distribution of Posidonia meadows in the Levant Sea.

Meltem Ok - Project Assistant

Meltem Ok is a PhD student in the METU, Institute of Marine Sciences. She has completed her BS degree in Fisheries and soon after started her MSc. Her MSc investigations were on the Mediterranean Monk Seal Monachus monachus in northeastern Mediterranean. Currently she is still working on the species within the framework of several research projects and pursuing her PhD education.

Serdar Sakinan - Project Assistant

Serdar Sakinan is also an MSc student in METU, Institute of Marine Sciences. He has completed his BS study in Marine Administration. He is currently researching on ecotourism and sustainable nature-friendly tourism management.

Ekin Akoglu - Project Assistant

Ekin Akoglu has completed his BS degree in Fisheries and started his MSc degree in METU, Institute of Marine Sciences. He is currently researching fisheries acoustics and population dynamics and assessing fish stocks in the Levant Sea and Turkish dam lakes.

Evrim Erbil - Project Staff Member

Evrim has graduated from Bosphorus University, Department of Sociology in 2000. Over the years she has volunteered in various projects and socities including Pieterburen Nederland Seal Rehabilitation Center (SRRC) and Middle East Technical University Institute of Marine Sciences. She is deeply interested in sociological and cultural issues, anthropology and marine biology.

The project team consists of six people: one project manager, four marine biologists and a sociologist. There is space for one volunteer at a time on the marine project.
