Volunteer Work in Belize
Zoe Walker - Project Coordinator
Zoe Walker did an Ecology degree at Leeds University (UK) before going on to work on a number of different field projects around the world. Aside from Belize, Zoe has also worked in Peru, Ecuador and Brunei. She has been heavily involved in Belize’s conservation management planning, and is currently contracted to write a 5-year Management Plans for Cockscomb Basin and Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuaries. In 1996 Wildtracks, set up by Zoe and her husband Paul, was registered as a Belizean non-profit NGO, to cover environmental education, conservation, and adventure holiday activities. Zoe is a trainer for the National Tour Guide Training programme. She has worked with many different volunteer organizations, and has excellent experience of coordinating and caring for people.
Paul Walker - Project Coordinator
Paul graduated with an honours degree in Zoology before going on to do his Post-Graduate Research on Tropical Rain Forest Amphibian Community Ecology. He too has worked on scientific research in a number of locations around the world, including Brunei, Sarawak, Costa Rica and Peru. Paul has published a number of scientific papers and acts as an environmental advisor for a 95,000 acre tract of timber lands, with the specific aim of balancing conservation and development zones in the plans. He is one of the founding members of the Belize Association of Private Protected areas and acts as a technical adviser to a number of biodiversity working groups.
