Volunteer in Orphanages in Nepal
Niraj Shrestha - National Coordinator
Niraj is from a distinguished Newar family steeped in cultural and artistic traditions. He has many years of experience working with visitors to Nepal through his time with one of Nepal's original Rafting and Trekking operators. He has an ability to ensure the best possible results from any endeavour and is very experienced in supplying the best and most appropriate support to each and every volunteer, and each and every placement. He is the definitive Nepali mover and shaker; the man who ensures things don’t go wrong, but somehow has acquired a lot of experience in putting them right!
Tony Jones - Founder
Tony Jones heads the Rafting and Trekking Operations and is now considered an honorary Nepali, he is also the archetypal Englishman in the relaxed and slow moving environment of Nepal. Tony has been involved in a number of ways with various Nepali charities and NGO’s, and is committed to giving assistance where it is most needed.
Pashupati Timilsinha - Project Staff
Amongst the sometimes less-than-glamorous thrust of Pokhara’s tourist industry, you’ll find the calm and organised individual that is Pashupati. Though answerable to the demands of a highly successful trekking operation, Pashupati is still keenly aware of and involved in community-based projects in Pokhara. He is a valuable asset and confidant to every hard working volunteer.
Ramsaran Shrestha - Project Staff
Originally from the Kathmandu Valley, Ram Sharam, his wife and three daughters are now very much a part of the local scene in Bandipur. Manager of The Old Inn, right in the centre of Bandipur Bazaar, Ram Sharam has his finger on the pulse of this thriving community and he’ll do his best to introduce you to teachers and other key residents who will be able to help you best place your efforts during your GVI Volunteering Programme.
Durga Limbu - Project Staff
Durga is in charge of operations at The Trisuli Centre. Of equal importance are Durgar’s efforts in introducing GIV Volunteers to the Trisuli Young Leaders Club and its members. Not only does Durgahave a pivotal role at The Trisuli Centre, he is an important member of the small Muslim community, based on the opposite bank of the river.
Dinesh KC - Project Staff
Dinesh was born and brought up in the Everest region and has an infectious love for the great outdoors in Nepal. In the last three years Dinesh has led many treks for our tour operator, Himalayan Encounters, and has now brought his skills and enthusiasm to managing The Famous Farm and to the GVI Volunteer Programme at Newakot.
Radha Krishna - Project Staff
Radha and his family are well-respected members of the community in and around the Chitwan area. His ‘day job’ involves the management of a Tourist Complex linked to the National Park.
