Project Life
Volunteer with the Jane Goodall Institute in Uganda

Entebbe:

The volunteer will be given an orientation to Uganda, JGI-Uganda, Roots & Shoots and the other projects when they first arrive in country. A training workshop will be held for Roots & Shoots leaders within the first half of each year and so volunteers during this time will help to develop and run this workshop. Visits will also be made to the current groups during the time that the volunteer is in the country. The volunteer will be able to go and help some of the groups in the Entebbe/Kampala area with their Roots & Shoots projects. They will also help out with other education work that is going on at that time.

While in Entebbe, the volunteer will be expected to work normal office hours but should be prepared to put in some overtime and weekend work.

Other Districts:

Time will be spent in two rural districts that both offer a very different experience: Bushenyi District in the South West and Masindi three hours North of Kampala. The volunteer will live at the forest edge at both sites, and will be involved with both the Roots & Shoots groups in the area and the Environmental Education programme run from the sites.
