Orphanage Volunteer Project in Cape Town over Christmas

Volunteers will spend their fist day settling in and making themselves at home and getting to know Gordon’s Bay. Monday morning we will head out to the orphanage at 8:30 where the program will begin.

Two Week Itinerary

• 21 December Monday 8:30 – 12:30 morning spent at the Orphanage with the children 14:00 – 17:00 afternoon surfing session
• 22 December Tuesday 8:30 – 12:30 morning at orphanage with the children. Free afternoon to spend in Gordon’s Bay
• 23 December Wednesday 8:30 – 12:30 morning at orphanage with the children. 14:00 – 17:00 Nature hike in the Hottentot Holland Mountains
• 24 December Thursday 8:30 – 17:00 day at the beach with the children. Friday to Sunday is free time for volunteers to enjoy Cape Town, we would recommend the optional cultural weekend side trip to Cape Town city.
• 28 December Monday 8:30 – 12:30 morning activities with the children at the orphanage, afternoon trip to Robben Island.
• 29 December Tuesday special outing with the children from the orphanage
• 30 December Wednesday 8:30 – 12:30 morning activities with the children at the orphanage, the afternoon is free time to spend in Gordon’s Bay or surrounding area.
• 31 December Thursday 8:30 – 12:30 morning activities with the children at the orphanage, afternoon trip up Table Mountain.
• 1 January Friday – Free day to spend on the beach
• 2 January Saturday – Departure day.

Although we will do our best to stick to the above itinerary many of these activities are weather dependant and so we may have to shuffle things around. You will not need any particular training or experience as this will be provided for you once you arrive in country. The South African GVI project manager, interns and ex volunteers will always be around to assist you or give you ideas. The work you will be doing will involve co-ordinating activities for the children as well as taking part in sports days, putting together mini concerts and supervising day trips. You will need to do some preparation and planning for each day. Resources such as art materials, games etc will be provided for you. The weekends have been left free for your own leisure so that you will have time to explore the spectacular sites and sceneries in and around Cape Town.
