Arrival And Departure Information

You must arrive on the published start date of the expedition. Once you have arrived in Johannesburg International Airport, you will join a coach organized by GVI to transfer expedition members directly to one of the expedition bases. This journey takes approximately five hours. Please note that this is at your own expense, and costs an additional UK£60 / US$103 / 90 Euro return.

At the end of the first 5 weeks in South Africa, volunteers will have the option of travelling back to the airport or travelling on at their leisure. At the time of booking volunteers must also have confirmed their start dates for the additional programs with their local GVI office – so you may wish to travel straight on to one of the other projects or take time to explore the region before the next start date.
