Cross River Gorilla Surveys in the Highland Rainforests of South West Cameroon

Skills Required

Volunteers must be highly motivated and physically fit as the environment is very demanding and the local climate is hot and humid - temperatures ranging from 25-40°C. It is important that volunteers can work as a team and assist the local staff in the daily tasks, and some trekking or climbing experience would be an advantage.

Training and Qualifications

No special training or qualifications are required, as you will receive training in the field. The subjects this training covers will include: great apes ecology and conservation; survey methodologies including data collection, sampling design and techniques, mapping and the use of global positioning systems; and great apes tracking.
