Kayaking Course in Patagonia
Learn kayaking and leadership skills on a three-week training course in the Patagonian wilderness
From the edge of Patagonia's stunning ice cap to one of its most spectacular glaciers, this kayaking course takes students to rarely-seen places. You will learn a variety of kayaking skills, including route-finding, rescue and rolling. The overall focus of this instructional course is to arm you with the skills and experience to launch into your own paddling adventures with confidence and good judgment. Your experienced instructors help you to push yourself and your skill levels, making this course a real challenge. Yet the landscapes you see and the adventures you have, make this challenge all the more fantastic!

Highlights
Spend 20 days in the remote Patagonian Wilderness learning and using the wide range of skills that the sea kayak skills course teaches you (WEA Outdoor Leader certification and Leave No Trace Practitioner); honing your paddling technique as you kayak into beautiful fjords; practising your leadership skills; learn backcountry gourmet cooking skills; getting the chance to explore a breathtaking part of the world very few people get to see.
Location
The expedition commences from the small town of Coyhaique, Chile, and moves into the Northern Ice Cap (Campo de Hielo Norte) for the duration of the trip, exploring its many inlets and canals. The access to the ice cap is approximately five hours drive from Coyhaique, deep in the beautiful Aysen region of Chile.

Field Conditions
After a brief stay at base camp to brief and prep for the trip, students will spend the entire expedition in the fjords of Patagonia. Students will be completely self sufficient while in the field, carrying everything they need for the duration in their kayak. Challenges include long (8-10 hours) days paddling over rolling seas, battling tides and sometimes bad weather. Rewards include incredible views, getting away from civilization and doing things you thought you never would!
