Volunteer to Teach Sport to Children in Zambia

Zambia Flag

Work alongside a team of local volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of hundreds of under privileged rural children through sports projects

If you are an independent, adventurous person who enjoys teaching children and are looking for voluntary work, teaching sports with in Zambia, Africa, will be for you. The aim of this programme is to empower children in rural communities in Zambia by using sport and physical activities as a vehicle to promote positive, healthy lifestyles. In particular, it will address the major concern of HIV/AIDS among Zambian youths. Volunteers will teach and coach sports such as soccer, netball and volleyball, and also start basketball teams. You will also help design and conduct sports clinics, league games and tournaments. Included in the programme is a weekend trip to Victoria Falls and a day trip to Lochnivar National Park.

Come play with the kids and share their smiles and passion for sport. Join the mission and share the vision!

What Difference Does This Project Make?

Sport and physical activity provide young people with physical, social, and mental benefits, thereby improving their productivity and social well-being. In addition to its direct benefits, sport is also used as a communication vehicle to promote healthy lifestyles and to prevent youths forming harmful habits such as tobacco and drug use. In many countries around the world, and Zambia in particular, sport is being used to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and to target vulnerable groups such as orphans and out-of-school youths. Sport can tackle factors that contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS by providing knowledge, life skills, access to services, and safe and supportive environments.
