PADI Dive Master Internship and Marine Conservation Training in the Seychelles

Enter the global scuba diving industry with a professional diving qualification combined with work experience and marine conservation training

This 22 week scuba diving internship in the Seychelles starts with a 10 week marine conservation expedition. This develops your scuba diving skills and your understanding of marine conservation. You will attain skills essential for your following 12 week work placement and learn to live and work with a research team in a remote environment, including a BTEC in the Supervision of Biological Surveys. During this following phase you will be based at a PADI dive centre where you will undertake your PADI Dive Master course, shadow dive centre staff, help the dive centre with all its commercial operations including; taking clients diving, equipment maintenance and marine conservation lectures. At the end of the placement qualifying participants may either be offered paid or unpaid work with GVI or with one of our local partners.

Highlights

Location

This expedition takes you to the beautiful Indian Ocean paradise of the Seychelles islands. GVI operates 2 marine bases in the inner granitic islands, both within National Marine Parks next to stunning palm-fringed beaches and forested areas. The paradise of the Seychelles is the ideal location to enjoy conducting marine research, relaxing and exploring a well-preserved and tranquil tropical archipelago. The work placements are based either at a local dive shop or with GVI.

Field Conditions

The expedition bases are located within National Marine Parks within the inner granitic islands of the Seychelles, 2 minutes walk away from stunning beaches with scenic views. Both bases supply basic living conditions with dormitory style accommodation, with up to 12 to a room in comfortable beds, or spacious tents with up to 6 people and comfortable beds. The research bases have basic facilities which include outside social BBQ and dining areas, generated power supply, running water and bathroom facilities, and are situated in idyllic locations. When undertaking the 12 week work placement and PADI Dive Master you will be sharing with other participants and conditions vary according to your placement.
