Jenny - Honduras

My experience in the field was amazing and I could think of very little to improve it! I loved the Honduras project and fell in love with Copan. I fit right into the school and the children were brilliant. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from our family and the food was delicious. The Spanish lessons from GVI were great and we continued them after our 2 weeks. I would go back again in a heartbeat! Every day was different at the school and the days that we had birthday parties were brilliant! the presents and the cakes and the piñatas were great and the kids and the volunteers always had a brilliant time!

The whole experience was great and I really got very close with the children. I miss them so much now! I felt very involved with the kids and got to teach the class on my own quite a bit. At the start this was quite intimidating but after a short while I loved having the class to myself. the sports days on Friday with the children was the best fun and we got to act like big kids ourselves! My best and most positive experience was laughing with the children and simply playing with them at break time. It was also great to see the children improve in reading and writing because of help that I had given them. That was very very rewarding! I was so impressed with GVI and would recommend them to everyone. The Honduras project was everything I could have wished for and it was an experience I will always remember. Hopefully I will get to return soon!
