Volunteer or Internship, Whats the Difference?

Choose from one of our fantastic international internship options.

How is the GVI’s Internship Abroad program different from GVI’s Volunteer Abroad program?

Increased Individual attention and guidance:

Upon arrival in-country who will be assigned an experienced GVI supervisor you will oversee your whole internship placement. Working alongside GVI field staff is one of the highlights of the internship program. Many GVI staff have been through the internship program themselves and they will ensure you make the most of your experience. Weekly meetings will support your learning objectives and offer the opportunity for review and guidance. Your supervisor will also assist you in making your final report and will award you your GVI Internship Abroad certification as well as any external academic qualifications contained within the internship.

Learning Opportunities:

GVI work closely with all internship applicants starting from placement assistance based upon the applicant’s skills and / or learning objectives to in the field reviews, support and guidance. Weekly reviews and assessments will allow you to maximise your volunteer placement, cultural and learning activities, and your independent work.

Work Opportunities:

Longer-term internships allow qualifying interns the opportunity to apply for paid or unpaid work with GVI or our partners overseas.

Official record of service:

Upon completion of the internship, we provide a final review along with official documentation of your participation.

Academic qualifications:

Many GVI internships contain internationally recognised qualifications (please see individual programs for more information).
