Volunteering in Oceania
Consisting of Australasia, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia, many of the nations of Oceania are islands or collections of islands in the Pacific Ocean, existing mostly in tropical and sub-tropical climates. Most of the innumerable islands that make up much of Oceania are covered in lush rainforest filled with the sounds of birds and outlined by fantastic beaches and crystal waters teeming with tropical fish. Seeing as it enjoys its summer throughout the northern hemisphere’s winter months, arranging your volunteering project to Oceania during this time could also find you enjoying some quite phenomenal weather as you explore these beautiful island paradises during your visit.
Volunteering in Oceania could also take you to the backpackers’ paradise of Australia, a huge land mass which has a tremendous variety of environments as well as spectacular beaches. Much of it is arid or semi-desert, while portions of the south enjoy a relatively temperate climate, and the wild, humid north sports rainforests and mangrove swamps. Australia’s cities are as varied too, from impressive Sydney to the cosmopolitan Melbourne with its famous music scene, and ultra-modern Perth to the small, remote Darwin. In another part of Oceania, the terrain of New Zealand is equally diverse, with its incredibly mountainous South Island, volcanically active North Island, craggy coastlines, crystal lakes and dense forests.
