Volunteering in Latvia
This small country situated along the Baltic coast is steeped in history and tradition. A large part of the countrys heritage can be seen in the grand castles and other fine architecture you can find in the cities and around the low-lying, fertile countryside. Much of the countryside is covered in pine forests where animals that are extinct or extremely rare in other parts of Europe (such as wolves and wild boar) can be found in relatively large numbers.
Volunteering in this beautiful land gives you a great deal of opportunity to pursue outdoor activities in the variety of nature parks and fast-flowing rivers. Yet it is Latvias cities, such as the capital Riga, that most eloquently hold the countrys greatest charms. Here you can wander the old cobbled streets enjoying the classic architecture and drinking in friendly bars, while stunning medieval castles loom in the near-distance and breathtakingly grand churches erupt skywards from the city around you.
