Volunteering in Honduras
Boasting cool mountains, sun-baked shores, forested highlands, savannas, mangroves and a rich variety of wildlife; Honduras has so much to offer the surprisingly few people who visit it. Sprawling from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast, this predominantly mountainous country offers plenty of opportunities for anyone volunteering abroad to get off the beaten track. Whether you want to explore the lush cloudforest of Parque Nacional La Muralla, the hieroglyphic staircase at the Mayan ruins of Copan, or scattered frontier towns in stunningly wild scenery, Honduras is bound to impress.
An adventurers haven, as well as rugged untouched landscapes, the palm-fringed beaches and clear Caribbean waters of the Bay Islands offer you amazing diving and snorkelling opportunities. Here amid the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System you can swim with a variety of marine life including bottlenose dolphins, manta rays and the elusive whale shark.
