Volunteering in Panama
Panama is a country most aptly described as cosmopolitan. Its geographical position as a thoroughfare and its influx of immigrants from all over the world has meant Panamas art and culture has thrived, having been so open to such a variety of influences. With a disparate cultural mix of inhabitants, Panama is one of the most open-minded and tolerant societies in Central America, making it a remarkable and hospitable country in which to find volunteer work.
The country holds a variety of spectacular wonders that include lush mountain forests, Caribbean beaches surrounded by coral reefs, Pacific waters with constellations of tropical islands, hidden remote villages only accessible by dugout canoes, the famous and fantastic engineering feat that is the Panama Canal, and a capital city in which chic discotecas sit next to museums, bustling markets lead onto shopping malls, and pristine Caribbean shores are within a few hours drive of the citys skyscrapers. All who volunteer overseas in Panama find an underrated, beautiful and compelling country in which tradition and modern forward-thinking sit side by side.
