Volunteering in Thailand
Every year, millions of visitors set off on their own Thai adventure. Some want to see for themselves the variety of cultural highlights the extraordinary temples, ruined cities from every major period in history and the glittering Grand Palace with its gigantic Reclining Buddha. Others are drawn by the scenery: the stupa-studded mountains of Mae Hong Son; gorgeous islands surrounded by coral reefs regularly visited by sharks, rays and turtles; and swaths of intact rainforest filled with monkeys and tropical birds. Few can resist eating some delicious Thai food before walking across the fine sands of some of the worlds best beaches.
Yet for all who volunteer in Thailand, a great draw is the sheer energy of everyday life. Whether you explore the bustling streets of Bangkok or remote villages accessible only on elephant treks, dance at full-moon beach parties on Ko Pha Ngan or take an inner tube down the Mekong River; you may be taken aback by the sheer vitality of the people, landscape and culture of a country that offers something for every type of volunteer.
