Volunteering in Rwanda
The recent international attention the Land of a Thousand Hills received for the devastating 1994 genocide may not make many people regard Rwanda as the ideal country in which to volunteer abroad. But with the economy revived and much of the country rebuilt, Rwanda is now a safe and breathtakingly beautiful country in which you can find yourself volunteering to become a small part of the countrys future.
The grasslands, lush forests and rolling hills of Rwanda are home to an abundance of rare wildlife and extraordinary people. Scale cloud-covered mountains and rigid volcanoes to see awe-inspiring panoramas and meet majestic mountain gorillas and gorgeous golden monkeys before you see the traditional dance of the pygmy Twa, listen to ikinimba music to hear tales of Rwandan heroes and kings, and then relax on the golden shores of Lake Kivu. Wherever you go in Rwanda, you will be wowed by the power of the countrys natural beauty, glorious wildlife and remarkable human strength in the face of adversity.
