Volunteering in Ghana

As one of the friendliest countries in West Africa, Ghana is a brilliant destination for anyone looking to volunteer abroad in Africa. Located just above the Equator, Ghana is covered in grassy plains and low savannah grasslands in the north and dense rainforests filled with meandering rivers that lead to the waters of the Gulf of Guinea in the south. Ghanas national parks and reserves contain stunning kaleidoscope of butterflies and birds as well as a variety of species of monkeys, antelope, lions and elephants. In Kakum National Park you can witness the flora and fauna in all its beauty by following along a canopy walkway suspended thirty metres above the forest floor.

No trip to Ghana would be complete without visiting its capital city, Accra, which sits on the country's Atlantic coast. Here, as throughout the country, traditional open markets filled with the smells of spices are held and gilded palanquins parade the streets in the colourful festivals. If you want to escape the city hum and practise your watersports when volunteering in Ghana, golden palm-fringed beaches are scattered all along the coastline.
