Patagonia Snow School and Volcano Summit Attempt
The Tronador summit and snow school will take you out into the heart of the patagonian Andes. After a day of preparing the mountain food, checking personal kit and briefings about the next days, the summit team will depart to the trailhead of Tronador. Having mastered this first trek to the base camp at Meiling refuge, past the enormous cliffs where parts of the glaciers rumble into the valley, the group will start the snow school the next morning. As you wait for a window in the weather to head to the top, the group will be introduced to the skills you need to get to the summit.
In small groups, everyone will have adequate time to learn and practise these skills. Teaching in english, your experienced argentine guides will find suitable terrain, adjusting to the different seasons and different snow conditions. The nights are spent at the refuge, giving the group a chance to revive their exhausted bodies in a warm and dry house overseeing the summit on one side and the Patagonian lake districts on the other. Experienced GVI staff will work together with the mountain guides for the entire trip ensuring you will get the best out of this trip.
