Custom Course Options

Over the years, GVI has put together some incredible events and courses for all types of groups, from two-hour workshops to seven-day private courses. The customized versions of these courses give you the ability to create an experience to meet your exact needs, whether it's based on timing, group size, location, or course content. We can do ‘typical’ courses that involve desert travel and survival skills, or we can add more personal elements to bring a high-degree of customization to your special event or need.

28-Day Course

The 28-Day Standard Field Course takes students on the ultimate minimum-equipment desert expedition.

Join up to 11 other students and three instructors for 28 days to explore Southern Utah's glorious canyon country. You can't get much more immersed in the natural world than on this course. Though this course will challenge you mentally, physically, and emotionally, the greater sense of self and life-long memories that you gain are priceless.

About the Course

These courses teach traditional living skills to students, whilst minimizing their use of and reliance on modern technology. The 28-Day Standard Field Course is the oldest and most popular course. It has been designed over the last 35 years to test a student - physically, mentally and emotionally - and to provide him or her with an extended traditional living experience. The emphasis is on knowledge and techniques rather than gadgets and technology, which gives these courses a unique position in the field of outdoor education and adventure travel.

14-Day Course

The 14-Day Field Course is fast-paced and packed with challenges to test your endurance and fulfill your desire to see Utah's outstanding canyon country. The 14-Day Field Course is one of the most popular courses offered, due to its high level of adventure in such a short time period. It follows the same structure and outline as a 28-day course.
