As Lucky as a Rhino - A volunteer's perspective
Our group arrived in Karongwe on 14th January and the journey has been so amazing so far, we decided to share some of the happenings.
Besides getting to know the lovely people in the staff team and making new friends from all over the world, you get to learn so much in such a short amount of time!
We have been learning about the animals, the reserve, the research and so much more!
So far our sightings have included specials such as two leopards, a caracal, sub-adult lions trying to hunt down a baby rhino, a newborn baby elephant and mating lions...do I need to go on?
I guess we could consider ourselves lucky just for being here and having this incredible experience. When I say we are as lucky as “Lucky’’ (the bull Rhino that gets all the cows around here, by the way), I really mean it!
The most exciting part is that we have been here for just two weeks! This means the middle of the trip for some, and just the beginning for others. Whatever the case, I am sure I can speak for all volunteers and interns: it has been totally worth it and we can not wait for the weeks to come! =)
