How is My Money Spent
Within a few hours of the project being on the GVI website we had our first booking and the volunteer scheme has gone from strength to strength. GVI provide the volunteers with fantastic support, including professional advice and information. We are incredibly appreciative of the support that GVI gives to EHRA and indeed without this partnership we would be unable to provide support to the local people of Damaraland and protection for the desert elephants.
Rachel Harris, Director of the Namibian Elephant project
Paying to volunteer is becoming increasingly popular. People from all over the world are realising that volunteering abroad is an effective way of donating time and money to NGO’s, charities and small organisations overseas who urgently need support. It gives you, the volunteer, a chance to live and work in a totally new environment, learn a new language and new skills, meet like minded people and be immersed in a new culture; and it provides these organisations with the chance to survive well into the future.
It is important to remember that without GVI many of our project partners and host country charities would be struggling to survive. The majority of organisations that we work with do not have the skills or the resources to promote themselves within the global marketplace. Through GVI they can be seen by the wider world, to be recognised as valuable projects, give volunteers a safe and enjoyable experience, and be supported by a steady stream of hard working volunteers.
At GVI we understand that it is important to know where your money is going and how it will be spent so we have attached a downloadable document below.
In 2007, 70% of volunteer contributions were spent directly in the field.
