The time I spent in Manuel Antonio can best be described as a once in a lifetime experience. I had the opportunity to form friendships with interesting people from all over the world, practice the Spanish language authentically (which has been an asset in my classroom back home), and spend some time engaging in new cultural experiences, all while participating in an important and meaningful project. **Describe what you did on project and how your skills helped move the project forward ** While teaching on project in Manuel Antonio, I had the opportunity to teach English to students in grades one through five, as well as to adults in the community. I created games and activities, as well as modeled teaching strategies and techniques for other volunteers when working with students in the classroom. I also worked in the community center on various painting jobs, and helped to restore desks and blackboards in school classrooms.
