Wellspring School students make a great team
It has been a pleasure to watch a group of students come together and work as such a great team. We met them at the airport weary after a long journey but excited for their adventure. By the next day they were ready for action.
We spent Saturday afternoon at Ikhayalethemba where the students had a great time meeting all the children and there were certainly some fun interactions. Sunday it was painting and whilst we planned to paint the exterior of one house, two houses were achieved. Mama Lumka was very excited with the fresh new look to the Sanctuary and so were the children.
Monday it was time for the nursery. Here the students made new bag hooks, repaired some of the furniture, painted the interior and weeded the front of the centre. The staff were delighted with the results.
Tuesday it was Grade R where the students weeded, painted, made bag hooks, gave some old tables a face lift, topped up the sandpit and bark area and fixed a problem door. A morning’s work and a lot achieved.
There were no problems motivating the students, they worked together as a great team and helped each other out where they could. They discovered some new skills and found satisfaction in a job well done.
The next stage of their journey is to explore the Cape Peninsula and Garden Route-a well deserved trip after and busy start to their time here in South Africa.
