Trekking around the Annapurna’s

Last Tuesday, 4 of our GVI volunteers set off trekking. Nepal is famous for its amazing scenery, trekking routes of all levels and the challenge of making it to the next tea house!

Our partners – Himalayan Encounter here in Nepal are experts at adventure from trekking to rafting and they have always had a very good repetition. The volunteers join on a 4 day Royal trek. It got its name because the Prince of Wales first trekked this route in 1980. This is the best trek for those who want to experience village life and striking mountain views in a relatively short period of time.

It was lovely for the volunteers to meet up after being posted at different locations. The volunteers were briefed by the guide from the trek in the afternoon. Some volunteers had to quickly rush off and by a few items or put all their clothes in at the laundry service. They all decided that they had had enough ‘dal bhat’ and opted for a night of Italian food at a local restaurant and an early night after catching up on emails and Facebook!

The next morning the volunteer had a hearty breakfast to set them off on their journey. With their guide and porter we waved good bye to the GVI volunteers from the Himalayan Encounters Pokhara Base Camp.
