Special Education day off fun!

Every year the municipal schools in Costa Rica organize a day of fun for the ‘Special Education’ students. We were very lucky to be asked by the school to participate and organsie activities for the kids.
So…last Thursday four volunteers joined the special ed teachers and 50 kids who came from El Cocal to a community sports center in Quepos.
There were performances and dances base around the idea that everyone is special and unique. After lunch we had organized some fun activities for the children, like making a large poster with different coloured fish to represent the ocean.

At the end of the day each child received a party favor bag including sweets, cookies and lollipops but most importantly a special note from their teacher….

Keep moving forward and never give up, because in order to succeed in life it is not important to be the first but rather simply to reach your goals, picking yourself up every time you fall on your journey.

Your Special Ed Teacher Loves you.
It was an important day filled with laughter, proud teachers and a good atmosphere. The fact is that the children who were at the special ed day are no different from those who were not.

With a smile on our faces we all retuned to El Cocal…
