Further Information
Dolphin Conservation in Greece

Included Side Trips

If the weather is windy, researchers and participants may have to stay at the base. In this case the activities may include: analysis of digital photos, lectures given by the researchers and housekeeping. You will be taught how to file, name, crop and prepare digital photos of the dolphins’ dorsal fins for subsequent matching. You will then engage in individual photo-identification based on natural marks on the fins, by matching the dolphins photographed at sea with a digital catalogue of known animals.

Excursions are occasionally organised if the wind keeps blowing. During free time (normally in the afternoon) and once back from a survey, participants can enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty of the village of Galaxidi, walk in its park, lye on pebble beaches close to the field base, swim in the sea and soak up the sun.
