Volunteer at a Primate Rehabilitation Centre in Thailand
Volunteers’ main tasks are caring for the gibbons, and completing chores such as preparing food, feeding the gibbons, cleaning food trays, filling water bottles and cleaning and maintaining the enclosures. Other responsibilities might include showing visitors around the sanctuary, assisting with ideas for the new environmental education centre and helping to build new enclosures.
An example daily itinerary is as follows:
7.00-8.00am Prepare the breakfast of the gibbons, feed them, and collect and clean the food bowls.
9.00-9.30am Have breakfast.
9.30-11.30am Help with the sanctuary maintenance: clean enclosures, refresh cage water bottles, repair cages, paint signs, etc.
11.30-12.00pm Help with gibbon snack preparation and feeding.
12.00-1.00pm Have lunch.
12.00-3.30pm Research / study project / private time / general maintenance around gibbon cages / cleaning if needed.
3.30-5.30pm Evening gibbon meal preparation and feeding, cleaning and collecting food bowls.
