The Project
Volunteer with Children in Thailand
The priority projects requested by the communities of the region are English language teaching. There is an endless demand for native speaking English among schools around the country. Programme volunteers play a key part in meeting this demand by providing direct support in schools with limited or non-existing English language programmes. All of this takes place in and around the region’s breathtaking natural beauty, temples and ancient ruins of past kingdoms.
Project Aims
GVI works in partnership with local communities and local organizations in Thailand and around the world to help communities develop in sustainable ways while still preserving their unique cultural identity. In Ao Luk, GVI supports the effort of its local partners to increase the long term benefits of education to the local population by::
- Teaching English to local school children
- Assisting local teachers in English language teaching
- Working with rural communities to improve their English for developing community-based tourism
How You Can Help
Volunteers will work alongside trained Thai teachers within the local schools supplying free English language lessons for the school children.. Volunteers working in rural home stay communities will have the opportunity to practice English with their home stay families as well as with community members interested in gaining skills to use for community-based tourism as well as further job development.
