Job Description:

This position requires you to gather information and oversee all aspects of the Discovery Centre, from design to completion. The position has three facets:

1. Knowing Dian Fossey's facts and memorabilia. You will be familiar with the photos and information in Atlanta, which could be incorporated into the Discovery Centre, for example, have special pictures of Dian, Dian and her cabin, ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ information, family trees of gorillas, etc. There should be a central theme running through everything in the Discovery Centre

2. Overseeing the design and implementation of the infrastructure of the Discovery Centre, for example, adding a small cabin to the side of the Interpretative Centre that replicates Dian's cabin)

3. Designing the layout and information included inside the Discovery Centre. This will involve working on all biodiversity material and maybe designing free-standing information boards about topics such as birds, geological history, Ba'Twa, medicinal plants, etc.

Either: The person needs to be in Atlanta first to gain the historical information required and things that cannot be acquired in Rwanda such as large photos, information boards etc, before they go to Kigali for the actual implementation. Or: the person could go to Atlanta for the historical facts, then to Rwanda for the implementation, then back to Atlanta to assemble the things that will be sent for use in the Interpretive Centre.
