Participating with GVI not only allows you to work on programs assisting disadvantaged communities or endangered ecosystems but it also offers wonderful opportunities to travel in the local area in your down time or further afield either before or after your program. Below is some information on trips and travel options in Namibia.

Included Side Trips

During patrol week you get to travel in very beautiful remote areas of Damaraland, which most tourists wouldn’t see.

Optional Included Side Trips

There are many different activities that could be done, for additional costs, during your free time whilst you are based in Swakopmund. These include:

Further Travelling Opportunities

Namibia has some great opportunities for further travel whilst you are there. These include the following possibilities; seeing the ancient rock engravings in Damaraland, visiting Brandberg (Namibia’s highest mountain), experiencing the saltpans, canyons, clay castles and beach drives of the Skeleton Coast, viewing the herds of wildlife in the unusual Etosha National Park, marvelling at the wonders of Fish River Canyon, and many others.
