Program Overview

Volunteer to assist the local government with crucial wildlife and terrestrial conservation programs in the stunning Seychelles Islands.

You will work with an abundance of underwater life in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean, assisting on priority conservation programs on Curieuse Island. Exploring the beautiful forests and beaches, you might even chance upon the sighting of some bigger animals in the area such as whale sharks, dolphins and manta rays.

If you are looking to learn more about conservation, contribute to a meaningful project and want to spend some time in an incredible location, you do not have to look any further. The Seychelles is known the world over as one of the leaders in conservation and sustainable tourism.

Life on the Program

This expedition covers a wide range of conservation efforts as you rotate between projects. You will spend the majority of your time on foot working in the forests and on the beaches, experiencing different field techniques and varied project sites.

At the end of each workday you will return to our base with the rest of your team to relax together. You will share cooking and cleaning on a rotational basis, as well as sleeping in shared dormitory style accommodation.

You should expect to work 5 ½ days each week, with weekends free for you to explore the surrounding area to snorkel, dive or just enjoy island living.

Program Details

On this expedition you will focus on several key conservation efforts, including endangered bird surveys, flora survey and census research, giant tortoise habitat management and restoration, turtle nesting research and providing training and education to the local community.

Partners on this program include the Seychelles Centre for Marine Research and Technology, Seychelles Fishing Authority, Marine Conservation Society of the Seychelles and the Marine Parks Authority.

Data collected from your efforts will be passed to the Seychelles Ministry of Environment and participating NGOs to be used in creating local conservation policies and shared worldwide with other conservation teams and efforts.
