What's Included

Pre-departure support and discounted services, airport pick up and transfer to base, food and accommodation, training materials and science equipment, Introduction to TEFL training, comprehensive training necessary for research techniques, overnight satellite camps in the forest to explore the reserve, an Emergency First Aid course, 24 hour in-country support, 24 hour emergency phone line in the UK, our free careers abroad fieldwork placement and job vacancy service (for ALL former expedition members; successful placements depend upon aptitude and attitude).

What's Not Included

International flights, medical and travel insurance, personal kit, spending money, inoculations and medication (NB: a rabies vaccination is obligatory for this expedition), spending money (for personal purchases, social excursions away from the base, evening socialising and post-expedition travel).

The Booking Process

Once GVI receives your application form, one of our experienced regional coordinators will give you a call to find out if you have any further questions, or simply want to find out more about volunteering. All GVI staff regularly visit the project sites, and have volunteered and travelled themselves, so have an in-depth knowledge and boundless enthusiasm that ensures your application process runs smoothly and efficiently.

Arrival And Departure Information

All expedition members are picked up and dropped off at Mombasa International Airport (MBA). From here, you are transported to and from the expedition base. You must arrive on the published start date of the expedition, yet preferably the day before.
