How to Join
This section is for anyone who wishes to volunteer abroad with GVI on any of our international volunteering programmes. No matter what programme you want to join GVI on, whether it’s on a wildlife expedition, TEFL course or one of our international volunteer projects; our friendly team of staff will be happy to answer any queries you may have throughout the application process. If you require further information about individual programmes, please contact the GVI support team in your nearest GVI office. Alternatively, please use the contact form to request our brochure and other project-specific information. Don’t forget you can also meet us at the many fairs, open days and workshops we run throughout the United Kingdom, North America and Australia.
Steps to getting into the field:
- Fill in the online application form
- Once GVI has received your application form, one of our experienced regional coordinators will get in contact with you to find out if you have any further questions, or simply if you want to find out what volunteering is all about. All GVI staff visit the project sites regularly, and have all volunteered and travelled themselves. Therefore they have an in-depth knowledge and boundless enthusiasm, which helps to ensure that your application process runs smoothly and efficiently. Please check all your email folders in case our message does not go into your inbox and then add Global Vision International to your address book to ensure that you receive all our emails
- Upon acceptance or confirmation of availability, you accept your place by sending GVI a deposit of £250 / US$500 / €350 / AU$525. (Please note that some programmes require a deposit of £750 / US$1500 / €1050 / AU$1575. See terms and conditions for further details.) Payments can be made by cheque, bank transfer, debit or credit card
- Upon our receipt of your deposit you will receive your Field Manual, which contains all the information you will need to join GVI in the field, including travel arrangements, insurance details, visa information, inoculation requirements and what to bring
- Join your expedition, course or project team in the field!
Remember that GVI can arrange your whole application and booking online, so you can sign up from anywhere in the world. Please note that some projects and expeditions are booked for up to one year in advance. We advise you to submit your application as soon as possible to ensure your place.
