I found all of the researchers to be extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful. I really think that their inclusive approach made our time there all the more enjoyable as we were able to get involved and feel part of the team from the outset. I think the project has a very important role to play in the community of Praia do Forte. The village and surrounding area is being developed rapidly with the growth of tourism along the north coast. The team works tirelessly to mitigate against the negative impacts of tourism and unplanned development – littering of the coastline, abuse of sighting rules, damage to the humpback whales and their habitat. The project also works to educate, entertain and improve the lives of the local communities. I hope that they continue to receive all the necessary funding in order to further their work.
