I didn't know a lot about Swaziland before I left for the country but am now so glad that I chose to go there. As soon as I was met at the airport I felt really at home. There's a perfect balance of freedom to explore and travel the country individually and support from the team with activities and social events with the other volunteers. Swaziland is so easy and safe to travel around, the people are so friendly and warm that it’s easy enough to meet people, see places and get a real feel for the culture they live in.

It’s beautiful and varied, and there's always plenty to do. The team chose my teaching placement with care and were always eager to address any difficulties I had. The school I worked in was fantastic, they really appreciated what we had to offer and I was able to get involved in all aspects of the life there, from helping 6 year olds to read to tutoring 15 year olds maths to playing football in the afternoon.

Some of the kids were so sweet, and I loved the way the Swazi’s accepted me and wanted to share stories about our different countries. The staff were really great, they're so friendly and really helped to ensure my time went well. They were always there to help and were really interesting as they all know so much about Swaziland. It was great to be spending time with Swazis during the days at the school and then being able to spend time with the other volunteers in the evenings and weekends, I really got the best of both worlds! I'm really looking forward to going back to the little gem of Southern Africa.
