I wanted to write about an average day doing an instructor course in Mexico, then I realised there was no such thing! Yesterday I spent the morning practicing my rescue techniques by dragging my 100 kilo dive buddy out of the sea and up the beach, with both of us wearing all our dive gear! Then after a lunch of tasty “tacos de milanesa” the first part of the afternoon was spent pulling apart and servicing a dive regulator then putting it back together under the watchful eye of a specialist equipment technician. That was followed by going for a coral identification training dive with said regulator… well I’m writing this so I know I put it back together OK!! Today couldn’t be any different, I had a deep training dive this morning on one of the magnificent coral walls that Cozumel is so famous for. We saw an enormous Eagle Ray cruising off the wall and a huge school of Jacks on our safety stop, along with tons of other stuff. On the ride back to Cozumel in the minibus and then ferry we were all buzzing from the experience, I’m sure I’ll spend a bit of my entertainment budget on a couple of icy cold beers tonight after I finish this story… OK it’s finished, time for that beer!
