The Course
Learn Spanish in Ecuador
Arrival and Orientation
Students need to fly into Quito on the first or third Saturday of each month. There you will be met by the GVI project manager and shown to your hotel in Quito, where you will spend one night. The next day you will be driven up to Otavalo, stopping at the Mitad del Mundo (Spanish for Middle of the World) – a 30-metre-tall monument constructed to show the Equator. You will also sample typical food in a local restaurant and can explore the museum. You will arrive late afternoon in Otavalo, to be introduced to your host family, with whom you will have supper.
On Monday, your host family will take you to the school, where you will commence classes. These will be four hour long, one-on-one classes, and will suit whichever level you are at. The lessons are dynamic, with plenty of grammar teaching mixed in with conversation and games. Homework will be set for the afternoons.
