Experience South American culture and learn a new language in Otavalo, Ecuador
This Spanish course gives students the opportunity to learn Spanish whilst being immersed in the fascinating indigenous Andean culture of the beautiful market town of Otavalo, 2500m up in the heart of the Ecuadorian Andes. Famed for its colourful textile trade, and surrounded by white-tipped volcanoes and crystal lakes; Otavalo is a remarkable place to explore, live with a local family and improve your Spanish.
Each week you will learn Spanish with twenty hours of one-on-one classes (based on skill level), usually taken in the mornings (homework is set each day for the afternoons). All accommodation and three meals a day with your family-stay is included, along with a trip to ‘Mitad del Mundo’ monument that marks the Equator.
Staying with an Ecuadorian family and being taught by local Ecuadorians gave me a real insight into the country and its people. It was an excellent environment to learn in, surrounded by mountains and volcanoes!

Location
Nestled high in the Andes, a few hours from Ecuador's capital city, students will stay in the picturesque town Otavalo, situated in a valley surrounded by three volcano peaks. This market town is famous for its handicraft market and indigenous Andean community, and is a popular destination for visitors to the country. The town has many amenities, including the Spanish school, internet, bars and restaurants, as well as a maze of beautiful streets lined with carved statues for you to explore.

Field Conditions
Living with local families in comfortable accommodation gives students an enriching cultural experience and gives you the valuable opportunity to practice your Spanish! All accommodation provided is private, has washing facilities, hot water and includes three meals a day.
